Bug List
Bug List
1.
Touching
dirty trash cans and walking them out to the street and back
Why: It is necessary to take the garbage
cans to the street for pick up by waste management and then walk them back so
they are out of your yard. The cans are
extremely dirty sitting out in the sun and breading bacteria from the disposed
waste you put in them.
2.
No
accommodations for special needs families at most community/special event
activities
Why: The special needs community is large
and most families choose to not attend community festivals/special events due
to the large crowds, noise, lines and heat without accommodations to
comfortably enjoy along with the rest of the community.
3.
Cars
driving slow in the fast lane on all major roadways
Why:
Most drivers forget the rules of the road and do not pay attention if
they are interrupting the flow of traffic.
4.
Poor
mirrors in dressing rooms that are not flattering
Why:
Clothing stores choose cheaper materials to stock their fitting rooms. The poor quality mirror distorts your view
causing you to not appreciate the way you look.
5.
Waiting
days for cable/internet repair technicians
Why:
Either the cable company does not employee enough technicians or their
service is lacking requiring many of their techs to have multiple
responsibilities resulting in the customer waiting for days.
6.
Having
to repeat the order in the drive thru multiple times at any fast food
establishment
Why:
The speaker system does not relay the information clearly requiring you
to repeat your order. Another reason
could be the worker is busy and not paying attention when you place your order
and they are not able to multi task.
7.
Unreliable
lawn/handyman services
Why:
These individuals do not have a good business sense and start their own
business for the money and not in performing the work and pleasing the
customer.
8.
Women
paying a premium on feminine products and everyday items.
Why:
Sellers realized that women have certain needs and they prefer to buy
items that are pretty to look at. As a result they charge a premium which women
are subject to.
9.
Auto
mechanics who take advantage of consumers
Why: Since this is a specialized area the
mechanics rely on the fact that most do not understand the working of the car
and they try to capitalize on this.
10. Mosquitoes
literally make outdoor living impossible
Why: Living in humid conditions, which is
the perfect climate for breeding, contributes to the high population of
mosquitoes who then feed on your blood.
This makes staying outdoors, especially in the evening hours impossible.
11. Having a
conversation with someone who will not put down their phone or look at you.
Why: Mobile phones have brought the world
to your fingertips and some have become so accustomed to scrolling through
constant information they do not know how to turn that off and have a
conversation face to face.
12. Dishonest
employees who make up stories regarding their need for time off or why they
were late.
Why: The employee does not feel as if their
circumstance would substantiate the required time off or be reasonable to show
up late, so they make up a story that would be hard to dispute and would not
cause a written note in their file.
13. Random sales
calls claiming free services to get you to sign up for their offers
Why: Services purchase phone listings for
other retailers or online companies to market to you products you are not
interested in.
14. Micromanaging
boss.
Why:
The manager has poor leadership skills and is not able to properly
train, provide resources or trust employees to perform the work they are hired
to do.
15. Peacocks in my
neighborhood squawking at everything and running around on my roof.
Why:
Peacocks, even though they are not indigenous to the US, they have been
brought here and adopt neighborhoods with many trees and less traffic as their
home. Over the years the population in the
area has increased and they congregate along my street during mating
season. Any noise sparks the peacocks to
respond which can be rather loud.
16. Doctor’s office
giving you a hard time for showing up 15 minutes late regardless than you wait
typically 45 min – an hour for their service on any given day.
Why: Doctor’s office need to keep a
schedule to ensure their services earn revenue to support their practice,
however they overbook and inconvenience the customer as each appointment tends
to take longer than the 15 minute time slots they schedule.
17. People who
steal others packages off their front porch.
Why:
With the increase in online purchasing many order products that are
delivered to their homes when they are at work.
Anyone driving by can see the packages and some individuals do not have
an issue taking things they did not pay for.
18. ProctorU not
planning properly and causing long wait times to start exams.
Why: This service is required for online
classes and taking exams to ensure students are not cheating, however
regardless that you sign up for a scheduled exam time, they do not staff accordingly
to accommodate and the student waits half an hour or more prior to starting
their exam.
19. Finding a
favorite brand/flavor/product that is discontinued shortly after discovery.
Why:
Possibly from poor product advertising where the consumer is not aware the
product exists. The product line has not
met its goals so the manufacturer stops production regardless that you randomly purchase the product and would like to continue buying it.
20. Dings on my
car doors from cars parked next to me.
Why: People are careless and park too
close to the line or have larger vehicles not meant for smaller parking
spots. When they open their doors they
are not careful and cause damage to my car.
Reflection –
This assignment was not as hard as I first thought. I am an older student with children, there are more opportunities to have circumstances that bug me. I probably also bring years of experience of
questioning my children to dig a little deeper and get the whole story out of
them. This makes the asking why not so
difficult.
Hey Melissa!
ReplyDeleteIt really bugs me too when I have a scheduled ProctorU exam at 8 and I end up sitting at my desk for an hour until they finally let me begin at 9! I didn't even think about writing that one in my list but that would probably be number 1. Also I can relate to the peacock situation, I have one living on my balcony and it will never leave, so I won't be setting foot out there until it's gone!
Hey Gaby, your list is super interesting! Your #10 hit me hard. I'm from Miami, FL and I can say that mosquitos are actually the worst. During the summer months they're extremely active and make any form of outdoor activities a hassle. That's also a reason why winter is my favorite season as I love the cold weather and the lack of mosquitos around.
