Tenacity & Paying it Forward

Tenaciousness is a Competency
Behaviors I have used to keep up with the requirements of this course is being proactive by reviewing assignments for the upcoming week and getting a full understanding of the requirements.  Using time management skills by mapping out a schedule for the week giving me enough time to do interviews.  Another behavior used was watching the lectures prior to attempting any of the assignments.  Even though I had pre-planned and read the assignments, watching the lectures for additional details was key to completing tasks.
Tenaciousness is also about ATTITUDE
I have a full time job, am a single mother to a special needs child all while taking three classes this summer online. At the beginning of the class, once I realized how hands on and writing intensive it would be, I contemplated dropping the course for a later time.  Unfortunately, there was not a better time and as the phrase by Benjamin Franklin goes “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”  Every week as I tackle the assignments my apprehensions of completing the tasks slowly fade as I work through.  I do not dread the assignments and find myself looking for more opportunities in my daily life that do not pertain to the one chosen for this class and wondering what I can do to solve the problem.
Three Tips for next semester’s students:
1.            Everyone has their own way of learning and time management skills.  I would say to not fall into the mindset that you have time.  There is never enough time in a day and you could get behind quickly.
2.            The tenacious mindset is possibly already somewhat ingrained in every student as they are already enrolled and pursuing a higher education.   I would say you should try to get everything you can from the class. Learn the concepts.  Do not just go through the motions of completing assignments.  You might stumble across a new idea or venture that would have never crossed your mind until you were taking this course.
3.            Regardless of the many assignments including interviews and recordings, it is not difficult.  The hardest part has been thinking of your own opportunity to solve. Once you find something that interests you, it is very easy to talk to others about it and to break it down and try to solve the problem.
