Exit Strategy

1)    Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?
The business is very personal to me.  My intention is to stay with the business and retire as well as pass it down to my children to continue on the good work of the organization.  The center would give purpose to my youngest daughter when she is an adult with little opportunity and I would want her sisters to help her carry on with helping others.

2)    Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?
I have selected this exit strategy because it was basically the reason for selecting this opportunity and pursuing it.  Helping my daughter and leaving her a business she can continue to help the community like her.  This would be an accomplishment I would be very proud of.

3)    How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept? For instance, has it influenced how you have identified an opportunity? Has it influenced your growth intentions or how you plan to acquire and use resources?
My exit strategy has been something I have thought about since the inception of this concept.  It most certainly has influenced my decisions in developing the opportunity and especially in thinking of the next steps and growth potential.  For this type of business it will be important to develop lasting relationships with the community and to be able to acquire and develop resources that can help it sustain down the road.

  1. Hello Melissa,
You did a fantastic job with your exit strategy. It is nice to see someone who is so passionate about the business they created especially sense it hits so close to home for me. Your business has the potential to affect so many lives in a positive way and that is something that not a lot of businesses can say they do. It is wonderful that your daughter would also benefit from this strategy as well.
